Product Review: Downy Baby Gentle
Do baby clothes really need to be rinsed with fabric conditioner?
It sounds counterintuitive given that the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to babies is that we use as few laundry products and chemical laden cleansers as much as possible.
But the reality is, those store bought baby clothes may have more harmful chemicals that need to be washed off before baby uses them. Coupled with food stains and spit-ups, the principles of basic hygiene warrants that we make sure we wash clothes efficiently so that bacteria doesn’t breed in our baby’s clothes.
See where I’m getting here? As with everything, we have to strike a balance between cleanliness and chemicals. The great thing is, it’s easy to strike a balance when you’ve got the right tools for cleaning. Case in point, baby-friendly products made from plant-derived and natural ingredients such as Downy Baby Gentle. Here’s a review:
Scent. When it comes to babies, I just want to breathe in that baby smell. I don’t want my nostrils to be assaulted with other scents. Thankfully, there’s none of that with Downy Baby Gentle. While not unscented, it has a delicate, faint scent that is pleasing and does not overwhelm.
Softness. Swaddling blankets and cloth diapers, especially those ones made from muslin, tend to get stiff rough over time. The solution? Downy Baby Gentle. It breathes new life and softness to baby clothes that have gone crisp, if you know what I mean.
Staying Power. The mild scent and softness lasts. What’s best? It’s safe even for newborns. Staying power and safety in one product. That’s a win win.
