Soft, light, summer-proof hair

Soft, light, summer-proof hair

Curly and wavy or smooth and straight, it doesn't matter. The sun and also the humidity make hair awkward to deal with; we often feel the need to shampoo more frequently and, it feels heavier and drier to the touch.

Just like the skin on your face, hair must be treated in summer with special protective products; nourishing and hydrating shampoo and conditioner to make the hair softer and lighter.
The sun and heat make the hair dull and weak.Always remember to protect your hair, especially when lying on a sun lounger to get a tan, by wearing a hat, scarf or bandana and use specific oils, to be applied before you go swimming in the sea or pool. As for protective treatments, always remember to use a suitable matching shampoo and conditioner. Conditioner may be necessary after every shampoo in the case of curly hair, while fine hair prefers to be conditioned on alternate washes.

Applying conditioner on the entire length of the hair starting from the roots, must be distributed evenly and should be left to work for at least 3 minutes. This should be followed by thoroughly rinsing the hair, to remove any residue.

Leaving it to dry naturally, for those who can allow it to air dry, without styling, is preferable. Excessive heat from the hairdryer contributes to causing stress to the hair and damages its smoothness.

Obviously if you have the sort of cut that requires perfect styling at home, then you can't do without the hairdryer. In this case it should be used on a low heat setting and held at least 15 centimeters from the scalp. To help with brushing and to get the best result from the diffuser, apply a few globs of mousse spray with your fingers - this not only helps to create

the desired look, but protects the scalp, makes it soft and at the same time gives it volume without weighing down the hair.

To set your hairstyle, hairsprays and gels work well, as long as they are not too strong. Vitamin-rich hairsprays in particular create a barrier against the smog and lightly support the hair; gels and waxes also help to define the style and if applied just to the tips and lightly to the roots, do not weigh the hair down.

One last tip: if the heat becomes really oppressive, it's time to go to the hairdresser's and suggest a haircut, whether it be dramatic, disheveled, layered or a mid-short length cut. This way the head will become....."lighter" and the hair will be reinvigorated!
